CICERO - A CTA Pink Line train struck an SUV as the driver sped through the crossing gates in the 2100 block of South Laramie Avenue in Cicero at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, CTA officials said.

Three people were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The Ford Expedition apparently tried to speed through a crossing gate as the street-level train was approaching from the west, officials said. The train struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The driver of the SUV, the train operator and a passenger were taken to area hospitals with “minor injuries,” railroad officials said.

Pink Line service was shut down until about 12:30 a.m.
