New immunization required for D-200 schools

Published: Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 12:41 p.m. CDT

Starting in the 2013-14 school year, some students at Community Unit School District 200 will have to show proof of a certain vaccine, according to a district news release.

All students in sixth through 12th grades will be required to show that they have received the Tdap vaccine, a combined diphtheria, tetanus and acellullar pertussis treatment, at or after their sixth grade physical. The requirement was passed down from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Most students have already received the vaccination, the release said, and will only need to submit documentation of the vaccine to the school nurse.

Those who do not provide proof of vaccination will be subject to exclusion.
