LEMONT – George Rimbo, who was recently sworn in as Chief of the Lemont Fire Protection District, is resigning from the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education, on which he has served since 2009.

The Board of Education is expected to accept Rimbo’s letter of resignation at its next meeting on Monday, Aug. 19.

Rimbo was elected to a second four-year term in April. His replacement will serve a two-year term, after which another two-year term will be open for election in spring 2015.

State code states that the board has 45 days to fill the vacancy after it has been notified of the resignation.

The board will accept materials from candidates through Friday, Aug. 9. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, residents of the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the most recent election and registered voters.

Resumes and letters of interest can be sent to Superintendent Mary Ticknor by mail at Lemont High School, 800 Porter St.; by fax at 630-257-7603; or by email at maryjop@lemont.k12.il.us.
