BOLINGBROOK – Hardee's opened the first of many Chicago-area restaurant locations in Bolingbrook Thursday morning.
At 5 a.m. Thursday, members of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, Village of Bolingbrook and several residents were at the new Hardee's, 200 N. Bolingbrook Drive, to celebrate the burger joint's grand opening – the first of several Chicagoland locations, according to a Hardee's press release.
The national restaurant chain – famous for its burgers, fries and star mascot – officially opened its Bolingbrook doors at dawn, and each of the first 1,000 customers who purchased a breakfast combo received a coupon book redeemable for one free Hardee's’s menu item each week for one year.
A mariachi band and Hardee's Happy Star were also on-hand, greeting and entertaining customers.
Beginning at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 8, the Hardee's Bolingbrook location will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and make $1,000 charitable donations to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital and the Bolingbrook VFW Post No. 5917.
“We’ve provided Hardee’s premium burgers and other quality menu items to the people of central Illinois for years and are thrilled to expand now into the Chicago area,” Hardee's CEO Carl LeVecke said in a press release. “Bolingbrook is a diverse and growing city. It’s the perfect location for us to begin introducing Chicagoans to Hardee’s."
There are currently 60 Hardee's locations throughout Illinois and the surrounding states. A second Hardee’s, in the southern suburb of Midlothian, will open in late August, and several additional locations are being explored, according to the release.
