Theatrebam Chicago has announced that its next production, “Set Up,” by Chicago playwright Dan Noonan, which won the 2013 Neil Simon Festival New Play Contest, will feature a Berwyn resident at the helm.

The romantic comedy opens Sept. 8 and plays through Oct. 6 at Studio BE, 3110 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago.

Directed by George Keating of Berwyn who also is a founding member of Theatrebam Chicago, “Set Up” will be performed Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and on Sundays at 2 p.m.

The play previews Sept. 6 and 7, before it opens Sept. 8.

“Set Up” is the story of two flawed people with personal challenges who go on a blind date at an odd restaurant in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

Almost 100 plays were submitted to the Neil Simon Festival New Play Contest. Each one had to be an original, full-length, character-driven comedy that never had been produced before. Six plays made it to the finals, two won, including “Set Up.”

Tickets for the play are $25. Tickets for the previews, and tickets bought by Sept. 15 for any performance during the run are $20 each.

Tickets and information, including directions to Studio BE, are available at, or by calling 773-465-8668.
