Letter: Commending a kind cab driver

Published: Wednesday, July 31, 2013 5:00 p.m. CDT

To the Editor:

I would like to take a moment to commend a 303-Cab driver who went out of his way last evening to make a long, arduous day more pleasant.

An older lady and I arrived at the Westmont train station at approximately 11:30 p.m. after having ridden on an Amtrak train for more than five hours.

The cab was right there at the Metra station as requested and the driver assisted my friend into the cab. When we arrived at Mayslake Village, he helped her into her building with her bags, and when she had difficulty getting into the building, he got out of his cab and started to help her out but by that time she had the door opened.

This was all done without the meter running! When he dropped me off at my apartment, he waited to see that I got in OK.

Thank you ever so much for your caring and assistance. It was greatly appreciated.
