BOLINGBROOK – The second annual Susan Hoster-Suggs Cancer Awareness Outing will take place Saturday at the Boughton Ridge Golf Course, 335 E. Boughton Road.

In honor of Hoster-Suggs, the former Bolingbrook Park District executive director who died from cancer, the SHS Cancer Awareness Outing will feature nine holes of golf, followed by a helicopter ball drop fundraiser and banquet lunch. Part of the generated proceeds will benefit cancer research funds.

Staff will be selling "ball-drop" tickets during the outing, or before the event at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex or Annerino Community Center. Tickets cost $10 each, or three for $20.

Each ticket corresponds to a numbered golf ball, all of which will be dropped from a helicopter onto one the Boughton Ridge greens at 12:30 p.m. The ball that lands closest to the pin, or in the hole, will win $1,000.

Before the ball drop, shotgun, four-person scramble tee times will start at 10 a.m. at the golf course. Lunch will be served after the helicopter drop at 1 p.m.

Prizes, raffles and hole prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

The lunch and golf package costs $45. Those who wish not to golf can purchase a lunch package for $15.
