Westmont to host class on how to protect yourself from violence

WESTMONT – Community members in Westmont are invited to an open presentation discussing how citizens can protect themselves from violent offenders.

The program will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy St. The presentation will teach protective strategies for dangerous situations.

“While incidents of violent encounters are truly rare, we want to educate people regarding steps they can take to better protect themselves during these types of situations," Westmont Police Sgt. Jim Schlicher said. “Many of these tragedies occur at colleges or in a school setting, so this particular presentation will focus on safety at school.”
