Second police academy class to start at Oak Brook Police Department

OAK BROOK – The Oak Brook Police Department announced that it has scheduled a second Citizen's Police Academy class.

This community-oriented policing program allows members of the residential and business communities an opportunity to gain a working knowledge of practices, policies and procedures of the Oak Brook Police Department.

Some topics of instruction include support services and community programs, Illinois vehicle code, DUI, criminal law, case law, evidence collection, SWAT, defensive tactics and traffic stops.

There is no cost to participate in this program, but enrollment is limited and applicants who live or work in Oak Brook will receive preference.

Classes will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday starting Aug. 28 for 10 weeks at the Oak Brook Police Department. For more information or for an application, visit oak-brook.org.
