LYONS – The Lyons Police Department announced Monday they have charged a 20-year-old Lyons man with the burglary of his neighbor's home.

Police charged Santiago Hernandez, of the 4600 block of Custer Avenue, with one count of residential burglary on Saturday.

Police said Hernandez was identified as a possible suspect after tracking pawn shop records from EZ Pawn in North Riverside. Jewelry that police said was pawned by Hernandez matched items taken in a burglary reported to Lyons police in late June.

According to police, Hernandez admitted his role in the burglary and told investigators that he gained entry to a neighbor's home using a ladder to access a rear window.

In a news release, Lyons police reminded residents to report burglaries and suspicious activity immediately.
