ELMHURST – A Lombard man and woman are being held on bond after Elmhurst police arrested them Friday for possession of hypodermic needles and endangering a child.

Kristen Kugach, 23, and Thomas R. Knight, 25, both of the 600 block of North West Road, Lombard, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, endangering the life of a child and possession of a controlled substance at 3:57 p.m. July 26 at Route 83 and South Riverside Drive.

According to a police report, an officer observed track marks on Kugach and found bloody rags in the vehicles she was driving. Knight, the vehicle's passenger, allegedly retrieved a bag containing approximately 10 used hypodermic needles, three heroin cookers and two Suboxone strips from underneath the passenger seat.

Police said a two-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat where the bag was hidden. Whether or not the child is related to Kugach or Knight was not released.

Kugach is being held on $2,500 bond and Knight is being held on $7,500 bond. Both are awaiting trial in DuPage County Jail.
