The city of West Chicago takes pride in recognizing the shining stars in its business community through a formal recognition program aptly named the Brilliance in Business Awards.
The program aims to build awareness, appreciation and support for West Chicago businesses that demonstrate innovation, creativity, community service and sustainability. Last year, the city honored: Sims Recycling Solutions, Daniel & Associates Real Estate, Bob’s Salt and Feed, Chiquita Food Market Plaza and the DuPage Airport Authority.
The city is accepting nominations for the 2013 Brilliance in Business Awards. The award program, designed to acknowledge the efforts businesses make on behalf of their objectives and those of greater benefit to the community, brings awareness to the level of diversity, creativity and corporate citizenship that epitomizes so many West Chicago businesses.
One winner will be chosen in each of the following five categories:
• Small Business of the Year
• Community Service Award
• Economic Development Award
• Community Image Award
• Green Initiatives Award
There is a lot of good work going on in our business community. This program shines a light on some of these outstanding businesses that shape our community. I encourage everyone to give some thought to nominating a deserving West Chicago business.
Residents, businesses, government agencies, organizations or city of West Chicago staff can nominate a business for one or more awards. Nominations may be submitted online or by mail.
Information, including a description of the criteria and eligibility requirements for each award, is available at www.westchicago.org, at City Hall or by calling 630-293-2200, ext. 139.
