Loyalty pays off for Bolingbrook resident, Blackhawks team employee
Tony Ommen was on the ice to celebrate Hawks' second title in four years
BOLINGBROOK – Bolingbrook resident Tony Ommen was on the ice when the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010 and 2013.
But, for the 43-year-old Ommen, the Hawks’ most recent Cup celebration – following a 4-3 comeback win in which Chicago scored two goals in 17 seconds to eliminate the Boston Bruins in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final – was particularly special.
“Just when the Stanley Cup was handed to me, my children and wife walked out on the ice and greeted me and hugged me,” Ommen said. “It was a really special moment; it is hard to even dream up something like that. To be able to celebrate with my family as well as the players and colleagues was something I will forever cherish.”
