Bryan Mullins joins men's basketball staff at Loyola University
Former Downers Grove South and SIU standout takes over as director of men's basketball operations
CHICAGO – Bryan Mullins has been named director of men's basketball operations at Loyola University, head coach Porter Moser announced Wednesday.
Mullins, a Downers Grove South graduate who matriculated at Southern Illinois University, most recently spent four seasons playing professionally in France. Playing for Chalons-Reims during the 2012-13 season, Mullins averaged 7.4 points, 4.1 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.
A three-time Missouri Valley all-conference scholar-athlete team honoree during his time at SIU, Mullins was also a two-time MVC defensive player of the year selection and led the Salukis to a pair of MVC titles and two NCAA tournament appearances. His first-hand knowledge of the conference will come in useful as the Ramblers make the switch from the Horizon League to the MVC this season.
"Bryan is one of the most decorated student-athletes to come out of the Missouri Valley Conference in the last 10 years," Moser said. "As we move into the Missouri Valley Conference, he will be a great role model for our players to look to for knowing what it takes to win in the league. As a player, no one was as competitive, worked harder, or was smarter than Bryan, and I know he will bring those same traits to our program as he enters the coaching profession. I am extremely excited to welcome him to our staff."
