GardenWorks seeks volunteers for community garden

Published: Thursday, July 25, 2013 9:00 a.m. CDT

GLEN ELLYN – After planting a community garden with the help of two local Girl Scout Daisy troops in May, the grassroots project GardenWorks has made its first delivery of fresh produce to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry.

GardenWorks is now seeking help from residents to weed the garden at Village Green Park, 130 S. Lambert Road. A weeding and watering volunteer event will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. July 27.

Those interested in helping should email GardenWorks founder Tina Koral at tinakoral@yahoo.com and bring garden gloves and a bucket for weeds and water to the event.

A team from Whole Foods Market in Wheaton helped care for the garden earlier this summer, hauling away three large bags of weeds.
