Team Elmhurst's U12 Girls Select team came home champions from the Top Flight of the USA Cup tournament hosted at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., the weekend of July 12-14.

Over 500 teams participated in the tournament from 20 states and 17 countries, making it the largest youth soccer tournament in the Western Hemisphere.

The team started out by winning group play matches against teams from Canada and Minnesota with 13 goals for and 1 against. They won their quarter-final and semi-final rounds with scores 10-0 and 4-0.

They defeated NSSA Storm from Minnesota 5-1 in the final.

"It's a great weekend for all of our teams that went to the tournament. It's a great way to showcase our possession style of play which is something we are proud of at Team Elmhurst. They get to play against teams from outside the USA, which is a fun experience for our players." stated Karsten Roy, Director of Coaching for Team Elmhurst Soccer Club.
