DOWNERS GROVE – A Downers Grove couple whose bodies were found Friday in a Park Avenue home likely died of multiple stab wounds, DuPage County Coroner's Office Chief Deputy Coroner Charles Dastych said Saturday.

Thomas F. Smith, 41, and Jennifer M. Smith, 39, were discovered by police in a house located at 6211 Park Avenue during a well being check, according to a news release from the Downers Grove Police Department.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the deaths appear to be domestic in nature and do not pose a threat to the public.

An investigation of the deaths is ongoing.
