Westmont's Babe Ruth All-Stars win district title

After taking district title, Westmont aims for state championship

WESTMONT – Westmont's 13 year old Babe Ruth All Stars recently captured the District 3 baseball championship with an 11-9 win over their foes from LaGrange. Solid pitching and timely hitting carried Westmont in the win.

“I have known most of these boys for years and I was confident from the beginning that we had enough talent to win the district," head coach Steve Franczak said.

The team will begin play in the state tournament Thursday in LaGrange.

In the double-elimination tournament, LaGrange won the first game of the championship series 11-5, but Wesmont bounced back to secure the title. Earlier in the tourney, Westmont topped Western Conference 23-11 and Downers Grove 7-3 in an eight inning game.
