At about 11 p.m. July 12, a team of Villa Park officers arrived at the area to serve an arrest warrant and check the area. During this time, they came into contact with about 20 people near the multi-family building at 941 W. North Ave. Ultimately, 13 of these people were arrested; eight of them were juveniles and five were adults. The charges included unlawful consumption of alcohol, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
Three of the subjects were wanted on arrest warrants and the tenant of the property was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
In recent weeks, the police department has gotten many calls complaining of loud noise, public drinking, loitering, littering and fighting in this area, said Dan McCann detective sergeant with the department.
The police plan to continue a high enforcement of this area in the coming weeks for as long as necessary, he said.
