La Grange seeks members for resident advisory panel

Published: Friday, July 19, 2013 4:21 p.m. CDT

LA GRANGE – The village is looking for about 20 residents to serve on a resident advisory panel that will offer input on issues like parking, beautification, economic development, infrastructure and public safety.

La Grange 2020 is the working title for the panel, an initiative of new Village President Tom Livingston. The panel will supplement existing commission chairs, business people and other community leaders, the village said on its website.

"I wanted to find a way to engage a broader set of residents as well as our existing commissioners on a set of topics," Livingston said at a June Village Board meeting. "To blend institutional memory with those that want to participate in village government and draw on that energy."

Panel members are expected to attend monthly meetings, which will not run longer than three hours. Meetings will begin in September, and the panel will be active through May 2014, concluding with a report to the Village Board.

Interested residents should submit a one-page professional biography addressed to Livingston via email to cbenjamin@villageoflagrange.com no later than July 31.
