LA GRANGE – The La Grange Country Club swimming and diving team won its conference championship for the third time in the club's 75-year history earlier this month.

The club beat five other teams at the conference meet July 12 to 14 to claim the Country Club Swim League title. The league, which is the oldest swim league in the nation, includes clubs from neighboring towns like Hinsdale, Riverside and Oak Park.

La Grange Country Club previously won the conference championship in 1947 and 1977. This year, it trailed Glen Oak Country Club by two points entering the final relay of the meet.

"This was the most exciting sporting event I have ever been a part of," said assistant swim coach Henry Wilson.
