BROOKFIELD – For one night a year, adults get to rule the zoo and enjoy live music, animals and more than 60 craft beers.
Brookfield Zoo’s second annual Zoo Brew, in collaboration with Burke Beverage Inc., will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11 at 8400 W 31st St.
The event features 60 craft beers represented by 24 breweries including Abita, Argus Brewery, Belukus Marketing, Inc., Blue Moon, Boulevard Brewing Company, Chicago Beer Company, DIAGEO - Guinness USA, Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Hopothesis Beer Company, Lakefront Brewery, Inc., Leinenkugel’s, Magic Hat Brewing Company, Modelo, New Belgium Brewing Company, Newcastle, New Holland Brewing, Pyramid Breweries, Revolution Brewing, Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Southern Tier Brewing Company, Tenth and Blake Beer Company and Wild Onion Brewing Co.
Not only will beer be served, but also menu items such as hot dogs, brats, burgers, nachos, jumbo soft pretzels and popcorn will be available. There will be a silent auction featuring branded beer tenders, specialty brews and beer-themed memorabilia.
Chicago-based cover band Six to Midnight will perform music by Pink, Michael Jackson, Green Day and Garth Brooks on Aug. 10. Sunday features the band Hot Sauce Committee, a Chicago-based group that combines ’90s hip-hop with guitars and club beats.
The Zoo Brew is open for anyone ages 21 and older. The cost is $45 a person; zoo members receive a $10 discount. The cost includes beer samples, a commemorative tasting glass, admission to the zoo and parking.
There also is a discount ticket of $25 available, which includes unlimited soft drinks for designated drivers. Photo IDs are required. Limited tickets are available.
