Professional cyclists to compete in Elmhurst bike race

ELMHURST – World-class professional cyclists will race this Friday in the Elmhurst Cycling Classic.

All are invited to watch participants licensed by USA Cycling compete on the approximately one mile long race course around Elmhurst College. Spectators will see racers of all abilities from entry level to professional racers who often reach speeds of up to 30 mph.

The PNC Bank Family Fun Ride will allow registered participants to ride their bicycles along the race course. Free registration is open at PNC Bank, 565 South York Street through July 18. Day-of registration will be open at Wilder Park July 19 for $5.

The Elmhurst Bike Task Force and the Elmhurst Park District will provide free secure bike parking at the tennis courts nearest the Elmhurst Public Library on Prospect Avenue.
