Police identify Hinsdale man who died in car crash Sunday

HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Police Department has identified the 70-year-old Hinsdale man who was pronounced dead Sunday at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital after a car crash in the 600 block of South Garfield Street.

Dubravko J. Zacharia was the the driver and lone occupant of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer, which was traveling south on Garfield when it left the roadway, striking a fire hydrant, another vehicle in traffic and a utility pole before coming to rest, the release said.

Zacharia was unresponsive when Hinsdale police arrived at the scene at about 3 p.m. and was transported to the hospital, according to the release.

The Felony Investigative Assistance Team, a DuPage County crash reconstruction team, was called in for the investigation, which is on-going.
