House uninhabitable after fire

CAROL STREAM – A structure fire left a two-story house uninhabitable, according to the Carol Stream Fire Protection District.

Firefighters responded after midnight July 12 to reports of a fire at 601 Nez Percé Court in Carol Stream.

When first responders arrived, fire was coming up through the roof of the building. Due to the damage, the house was declared uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

One person was home at the time of the fire, but they were alerted to the blaze by working smoke detectors and escaped unharmed.
