Early Monday morning, a special response unit of the DuPage County Sheriff's Department arrested two individuals – one with admitted gang ties – on weapon and drug charges in unincorporated DuPage County near Addison, the Sheriff's Department reported.

The unit was patrolling the area near Lake Street and Route 53 when they were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked in a night club parking lot.

After making contact with the vehicle's occupants, police recovered a loaded semi-automatic hand gun allegedly belonging to Alex E. Reynolds, 24, of the 200 block of Zuelke Drive in Bellwood.

Reynolds was charged with possession of a firearm without a valid FOIA card, possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm by a gang member.

Also taken into custody was a 17-year-old male who was charged with obstruction and possession of marijuana. Police said the 17-year-old gave investigators false information about his identity.

Reynolds was held at DuPage County Jail and was due in bond court later today. The juvenile was taken to a youth home.
