York alum Westerberg named preseason Division III All-American

Former Duke linebacker earned first team honors

ROCK ISLAND – York graduate and Augustana senior linebacker Erik Westerberg was named to the firs team defense on the USA Football preseason NCAA Division III All-American team.

Westerberg, a second team CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American in 2012 for the second year in a row, ranked 14th in the nation in Division III with 118 total tackles. That number was also tops in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin to mark the second year in a row Westerberg led the conference in tackles.

In addition, Westerberg won the CCIW “Defensive Player of the Year” award, the first time an Augustana player has won the award since 2005.
