Wheaton South grad earns preseason honor for North Central football

Former Glenbard South standout also on preseason team

NAPERVILLE – North Central senior safety Shane Dierking, a Wheaton Warrenville South grad, and senior cornerback Connor Douglas, a Glenbard South grad, earned preseason honors.

Both were named to the 25th annual USA College Football Preseason All-America Teams. Dierking made the first team defense and Douglas was on the second team defense.

Dierking, who also received a Preseason All-America selection in the Lindy's Sports College Football Preview magazine, has been a First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honoree in each of the past two seasons and earned Second Team All-North Region accolades last season. He ranked second on the team in tackles (65) and tied for the team lead in interceptions (4) in 2012.

Douglas, a Lombard native, was a Second Team All-CCIW pick after making 42 tackles, intercepting two passes and recovering two fumbles.
