DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove resident Jarrel Washington, a recent graduate of Downers Grove South, is one of five Chicago-area teens selected to be part of Bank of America’s 2013 Student Leaders program this summer.

Washington was awarded a paid summer internship at Boys & Girls Club of Chicago and is currently in Washington, D.C. for the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.

Washington will attend Western Illinois University in the fall studying marketing.

As part of the Bank of America Student Leaders program, each student receives a paid eight-week internship. Washington is interning at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago at the Morgan Park location.

The internships provide students with work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer. In his internship, Washington will manage a performing arts program, promote his passion for theater and introduce his club students to new aspects of the performing arts medium, according to a press release.
