DOWNERS GROVE - Caitlyn Daly had a memorable spring softball season for Downers Grove South. She added another memorable moment July 9 when she committed to continue her career at Illinois State University.

Daly was one of the Mustangs' top hitters this spring, batting .407 with 46 hits, five home runs, 30 RBIs and a team-high 38 runs scored. She was a junior leader on a young team that caught fire at the end of the season and won two postseason titles on the way to an appearance in a supersectional game.

Illinois State is coached by head coach Melinda Fischer and associate head coach Tina Kramos. The Redbirds went 28-20 this spring and missed making the NCAA tournament for the first time in four years.
