ELMHURST – A group of York High School students and recent alumni worked with the Elmhurst Park District to create the Youth Elmhurst Showcase (YES).

YES Fest will feature local teenage artists and performers. Dan Sonenberg, a 2013 York graduate said that local teens organized the event as a positive example of successful youth. The teen organizers held auditions to select talented performers.

The day-long arts festival will include music, comedy, poetry readings and dance performances as well as other artwork. Attendees can discuss the featured work with visual artists and even purchase their favorite piece to bring home. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.

YES Fest takes place from noon to10 p.m. July 20 at Wild Meadow Trace near York Road and the Prairie Path. Content will be appropriate for all ages for most of the day, but from 8 to 10 p.m. content for those over 13 years old will be presented.
