Hillside Police issue DUI, seat belt citations during July 4 weekend enforcement

Published: Wednesday, July 10, 2013 1:53 p.m. CDT

HILLSIDE – Hillside Police made four drunk-driving arrests and wrote 73 seat belt citations during a special enforcement period around the Fourth of July.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in two statewide campaigns – Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket – in the days leading up to and following the national holiday. Extra emphasis was given to late-night hours, when statistics show the highest number of drivers drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

The special enforcement was funded by federal traffic safety funds issued by the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.
