Western Springs rejects assault weapons ban
WESTERN SPRINGS – A proposal to consider a village-wide ban of assault weapons did not reach a vote during Monday's Village Board meeting, with Village President William Rodeghier determining there wasn't enough support for a vote.
Trustee Suzanne Blowiak brought the issue to the board, but the overriding opinion was that a local ban would not actually do anything. Cook County currently has a ban on assault weapons.
Local governments across the state are weighing assault weapons bans after the Illinois General Assembly passed a law allowing the carrying of concealed guns.
