The DTA Wildcats 17U Navy team wins Fourth of July tourney

The DuPage Training Academy 17U Navy team captured a tournament title in St. Louis over the Fourth of July.

The DuPage Training Academy Wildcats 17U Navy College Exposure baseball team traveled to St. Louis over the Fourth of July to compete in the 30-team Freedom Classic.

The Wildcats claimed the championship trophy with a 12-4 victory over the Midwest Phillies in the final game.

The squad won three of four pool play games with the one loss coming in the bottom of the seventh inning to the highly ranked Springfield Statesmen. 

The 3–1 record allowed the Wildcats to get into the championship bracket with the No. 8 seed. The team then beat the top-seeded Kenosha Indians and the No. 3-seed St. Louis Gamers in the quarterfinal and semifinal games to move into the championship.

The 6–1 mark over the weekend upped the Wildcats record to 12-1-1 on the season. 

The team's roster includes Mattl Albin (Carol Stream), Erik Anderson (St. Charles), Michael Boehmer (St. Charles), Ben Chally (Geneva), Jack Ciombor (Wheaton), John Crosby (DeKalb), Matt Guether (Geneva), Christian Howell (Naperville), Max Novak (Geneva), Ryan Nudd (South Elgin), Adam Rojas (St. Charles), DJ Varney (Aurora), Robert Zablock (Wheaton), Ben Havel (Bartlett), Zack Dowz (Addison), Brett Jungels (Naperville), Brandon Popp (Roselle), Dylan Roskin (Schaumburg), Matt Gura (Palatine), Mike Zajac (Winfield) and Michael Mannix (Wheaton).
