Lyons man charged following robbery at Nancy's Minuteman

LYONS – A Lyons man was charged with robbing a gas station in the village on July 9.

Jeffery Holmes, of the 8100 block of Salisbury Avenue, was charged with one count of robbery and one count of resisting arrest, according to a news release from the Lyons Police Department. 

Holmes allegedly jumped over the counter at Nancy's Gas and Food Mart, 8050 W. Ogden Ave., grabbed cash out of the open register and fled the scene.

Lyons police were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. Holmes was later identified by police as matching the suspect's description near the intersection of Leland and Salisbury avenues.

Police said an officer told Holmes to stop, but he fled south on Leland. Holmes was later taken into custody in the 8100 block of White Aveune.

Holmes will appear in court  July 10 in Bridgeview for a bond hearing.
