BOLINGBROOK – Interested participants can now register for the Bolingbrook Park District's annual Parkie's 5k race, which will take place 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.

Beginning and ending at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex (BRAC), the USA Track and Field certified course winds through subdivisions and park property on paved streets. Course monitors, split timers and water stations will be provided.

New to this year's 5k, race officials will use chip timing in order to ensure precision accuracy for completion times.

Following the race, park district staff will host an awards presentation, handing out plaques for top male and female competitors, and medals to the top three finishers in each age group of men and women.

Early race registration fee is $20 for adults and $18 for children. Race day registration is $24 for adults and $22 for children.

The first 500 registrants will receive a t-shirt and goodie bag.
