LOMBARD – The final phase of a construction project being completed along Main Street in Lombard is expected to begin Tuesday.
The project began earlier this summer on Main Street between Roosevelt Road and 15th Street, and during construction, all curbs and gutters will be replaced, along with partial driveway apron replacement and concrete pavement replacement on Main Street.
The contractor is estimating construction to be finished in about a month. Throughout the duration of construction, north and southbound traffic on Main Street will remain open, but the contractor will close the southbound section of the street. During this time, southbound traffic will shift to the east side of the street, which is usually used for northbound traffic. On this side of the street, there will be one lane for southbound traffic and one lane open for northbound traffic.
Drivers will not be able to access the parking lot of the shopping plaza on the southwest corner of Main Street and Roosevelt Road from the Main Street entrance, however, the Roosevelt Road and Rebecca Road entrances will remain open.
Residents living along the construction route cannot access their drivesways during curb work and roadway paving, so they will be given parking permits that allow them to park in other locations during construction.
Any questions about this project or other local improvement projects can be directed to the Village of Lombard Public Works Department at 630-620-5740.
