Elmhurst library hosts college prep workshops for parents, students

ELMHURST – A nationally certified counselor will host a series of workshops and one-on-one sessions on preparing for college for high school students and parents at the Elmhurst Public Library.

Patti Pears, a former Elmhurst resident, specializes in college admissions consulting. According to the library's website, her first workshop focuses on selecting an affordable college. She will also host a seminar on tackling the college admissions essay. In addition, students can sign up for individual sessions to get help with their college essays.

The affordable college workshop begins at 7 p.m. July 23 in the library's large meeting room. The group essay workshop will be at 6:30 p.m. July 24 in the same room, and individual sessions will be available July 29, 30 and 31.
