DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove Police have filed charges against a suspect in connection with a June 2012 residential burglary.

The suspect, Steven Mantucca, 50, 2100 W. Warren Blvd., Chicago, is in custody at Western Correctional Center in Mt. Sterling on unrelated charges. Police charged Mantucca with felony residential burglary in the Downers Grove incident.

Downers Grove officers responded to the alleged burglary in progress on June 28, 2012 in the 4900 block of Saratoga Avenue.

A resident of the home told police she walked in her apartment and allegedly observed a man coming out of her bedroom. The man ran from the apartment as she called the police. DNA recovered from the apartment identified Mantucca as a suspect, police said.

Mantucca has eight previous burglary convictions dating back to 1981, in addition to convictions for attempted burglary, theft, forgery and unlawful restraint, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
