WEST CHICAGO – Based on recent survey results, the West Chicago Public Library District will purchase more fiction in the e-book format.
In June, the library reached out to its e-newsletter subscribers to help inform its digital content purchasing decisions. Subscribers were asked to respond to a three-question survey that asked about their reading choices, including the digital formats or devices they used.
E-book circulation has increased at the library by more than 40 percent over the past year. Digital options offered by the library include both fiction and nonfiction e-books, e-audiobooks and e-magazines.
Digitial formats are more expensive to purchase than print, so the West Chicago library used the survey to determine how best to spend budget funds on digital media.
