HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Police Department made one arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and confiscated fireworks during the Independence Day celebration Thursday.

A house was also egged in the 700 block of South Lincoln Street.

Three residents had their fireworks confiscated after police received complaints. Fireworks are prohibited in the Village of Hinsdale, according to Title 8, Chapter 4, Section 1 of the Hinsdale Village Code.

The Hinsdale Police Department is continuing its statewide Independence Day "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" effort, which runs through July 7.

The law enforcement crackdown is funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety.
