Lombard police to increase DUI enforcement

Published: Friday, July 5, 2013 12:01 p.m. CDT

LOMBARD – Through the end of the weekend, the Lombard Police Department will have additional patrols on the roads during the evening hours to enforce safe driving laws and keep impaired drivers off the roads.

The Independence Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over/Click It or Ticket campaign began June 28 and will end Sunday.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the most dangerous time on the road is between midnight and 3 p.m. This is also when motorists are most likely to have used alcohol and fewer passengers are wearing seat belts.

Drivers are encouraged to designate a sober driver before going out or to use public transportation or a taxi.
