District 205 answers school choice questions

Published: Monday, July 8, 2013 12:30 p.m. CDT

ELMHURST – This week Community School District 205 emailed Jefferson and Conrad Fischer parents and staff a list of frequently asked questions regarding public school choice.

Almost two weeks ago, the district's administration informed parents and community members about the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) provision which allows students from a Title I school that does not make established adequate yearly progress (AYP) two years in a row the opportunity to transfer to another school within the district that did make AYP.

Based on preliminary numbers, students from Fischer may be eligible to transfer to Jefferson. The recent email explains what the provision is, how it works and what it would mean for both Jefferson and Fischer families.

Interested community members who may not be Jefferson or Fischer parents can visit www.elmhurst205.org to view the same information on the district's homepage.
