Village says think twice: $75 to $750 fines for fireworks in Downers Grove

Published: Wednesday, July 3, 2013 10:31 a.m. CDT

DOWNERS GROVE – The village of Downers Grove reminded residents this week that its code mirrors that of the state's when it comes to fireworks – firecrackers, bottle rockets, cherry bombs, and the like are prohibited.

The village also reminded Fourth of July revelers that while fireworks can be bought across state lines, it is illegal to bring them home across the border.

Any person convicted of an offense is subject to a fine of between $75 and $750, according to the village press release.
