Family fun on the bill for 'Mi Gracia Fest'

Published: Monday, July 8, 2013 9:19 a.m. CDT

CICERO - Those looking for some good time family fun are invited to attend Mi Gracia Fest July 19 through the 21 at Cicero's Community Park, at 35th and Laramie.

The three-day, liquor-free event, sponsored by Viva Abundante Church, features family entertainment, including Christian music, games, rides, food, clowns and even short dramas performed by members of surrounding churches.

"We have groups that come in from all the churches all around," Church secretary Damaris Gallardo said. "People perform dramas, little plays that are focused on the family or evangelism, whatever they decide to do. "It's for the family, a family event for adult and kids."

Now in its fifth year, Mi Gracia Fest has been growing, Gallardo said. New this year is a 5K race that's designed to get more people involved in the community.

"It's not so much a fundraiser," Gallardo said. "We're trying to see where it can go from here."

The Fest will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 19, and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21.
