Village releases 103-page report ahead of meetings to discuss flood response
DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove village staff released a comprehensive, 103-page report Monday summarizing the April 18 storm that flooded more than 1,000 properties in town and overwhelmed storm sewer systems throughout the western suburbs.
The summary and analysis gives key findings, preliminary recommendations for future improvements and maintenance advice for the storm water management system. Village staff and consulting engineers analyzed information provided by residents and business owners through personal meetings, photos, emails, surveys, and videos to prepare the report, according to the village.
In July, the village will host public meetings to discuss the findings and collect additional input. A final report with recommendations will be completed in August, in time for the 2014 budget process, which begins in September, according to the village.
