WOODRIDGE - Raymond Knoll of Naperville donned the traditional Straw Hat as the winner of  the Zigfield Troy Open the weekend of June 22, winning with a 3-under par score of 105.

The 36 hole event, played at the Zigfield Troy Par 3 Golf Course in Woodridge, featured a field of 103 golfers. Knoll, who will be a freshman at the University of Iowa this fall, took the 18 hole lead on Saturday with a five-under par 49.  One stroke behind with a score of 50 was Lloyd Roth of Willowbrook and Kirk Blakney of Joliet.  In total, ten golfers managed to break par on Saturday.

A 75-minute rain delay the afternoon of June 23 interrupted play for the last five groups and the final foursome, which included Knoll had nine holes left to play. When play resumed he continued to control the leader board with five straight pars and a birdie on his 15th hole to move to six-under par overall.

Mark Kasanoff of Downers Grove, a senior on the Downers Grove South golf team, and ZTO past champion Jason Buffone of New Lenox moved up on Sunday to tie for second place with 36 hole scores of 106, 2-under par.  Kasanoff poured in three consecutive birdies on holes 14-16 and then made a miracle par save on the 17th en route to his three-under par 51, which was the lowest round on Sunday.
