GLEN ELLYN – Due to increased use of its Free and Reduced Price Lunch program, Churchill Elementary School in Glen Ellyn will begin offering a breakfast program for students next fall.

Federal law requires schools to provide breakfast when 40 percent of students participate in a free or reduced lunch program. This spring, the students eligible for Churchill's lunch program reached 48 percent, according to district reports.

On June 24, the District 41 Board of Education approved a change to its intergovernmental agreement with the district's food service provider, Marquardt School District 15 Food Services, to provide the breakfast program.

Starting in the fall, Churchill students will pick up their breakfasts in the school's multipurpose room and then eat them in their classrooms.

There are no additional costs for the district to provide a breakfast program, according to district reports.
