Deadline for FEMA flood aid application nears for Wheaton residents

Published: Sunday, June 30, 2013 2:00 p.m. CDT

WHEATON – Those who experienced flood damage this spring are running out of time to apply for federal grants, according to a news release.

Residents have until July 9 to apply for individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The agency is accepting applications to help with home repairs, expenses, losses of household goods and low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration to both residents and businesses.

Those who submitted a survey to the city about flood damage in April still need to register with FEMA in order to receive assistance consideration, the release said. To register, visit www.disasterassistance.gov or call FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
