Riverside author to hold book signing at library on Tuesday

RIVERSIDE – Riverside-native Alison Reeger Cook is showcasing her new book at the Riverside Public Library on Tuesday. 

The library presents "An Evening with the Author: Alison Reeger Cook" at 7 p.m. in the Great Room at 1 Burling Road. Cook will be signing copies of her new adult fantasy novel: "The Scholar, The Sphinx and The Shades of Nyx: Book One of the Scholar and The Sphinx Series."

The book was published on May 15. 

Her book is about a teenage boy-genius who comes across a living Grecian sphinx and goes on an adventure in a different world. 

Cook attended the University of Iowa and studied English literature and theater arts with a focus on play writing. Cook has received awards for her short stories and plays in Writers’ Journal, Writer’s Digest and Toasted Cheese Literary Journal.  

One of her short plays, “In the Cards,” was published by Heuer Publishing Inc. in 2002. She moved to Gainesville, GA in 2007 and is currently a book review columnist for the Gainesville Times.
